Thread: Oracle on Itanium 2. How will it fare.

    Hi Guys,

    Now with Intel having released Itanium 2. what do you all think .. how will oracle perfrom on a 64 bit intel architecture and what kind of competition it will face in the world of 64 bit Intels floating around and which obviosly be a Microsoft dominated market.

    Is it that Oracle will lose its edge of 64 bit computing on Unix platforms and the high end server market.

    Oracle has been operation on 64 bit platforms for years. I don't see any problem with the software itself.

    A 64 bit processor needs a 64 bit OS to take advantage of all that power. In 2008 when MS comes up with a stable 64 bit OS, we'll compare...
