    All,

I'm createing a new db in 9i (on SUN Solaris).
    I've create the passwordfile,
    orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapwdLVISION password=oracle entries=5

but now when I try to start creating the db, I've got the following problem:

    sqlplus /nolog

    SQL>connect sys/oracle as sysdba

    Connected to an idle instance.

When I want to do a startup nomount pfile=...,
    I get the error:

    Insuficient privileges.

I don't understand, as I'm connected as sysdba!!!

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thx,

    Rik
