    Hi,
I am new for oracle world. I installed oracle 8i & enterprise
manager on Windows NT.Database is working fine. But I am unable to start OMS. When I tried to start by using
" oemctrl start oms" , I got the error like " The service name is invalid" . Oracle Management service also not included in list of services in controlpanel.

So what I have to do?

    Thumbs up

Do you have a 'oracle agent' service in the control panel called OracleOraHome81Agent ? If so, start that first and then OMS.

    Cheers.

At DOS prompt, do the following ...

    oemctrl status oms sysman/oem_temp

If this also fails and if this installation (of db & OMS) is not significant, I'd do a clean uninstall and install them again. BTW, make sure you have enough RAM and disk space. Then start OMS from control panel services.

Or, install OMS in another box and start OMS from control panel services, or give ...

    oemctrl status oms sysman/oem_temp@

Can you also post the entire text of your error... error number, ... also check your oms.log files for errors.

    HTH
