Normal online/offline backup will back these up.

hi sureshy,
Does that mean that i only have to follow my normal bakup plan in backing up these materialized views? wont this affect my replication process in any way?
Thank you for replying.

I am not aware of a special backup practice for materialized views. Their definition is still stored in the dictionary, the only difference is that they occupy a segment aswell, all of this data is in the tablespaces you backup.
If you're really worried about this, test a backup/recovery.

Normal backups of MVs is just fine. If they are not too big you may neglect the backups and just reconstruct them if something happens to the DBs. I usually have an ASCII file with the create statements of all MVs and use it in case of disaster.
