I have 10 databases on an HPUX 11.0 box runing oracle version 8.1.6.0.0. I am looking to either going to 8.1.6.3 or 8.1.7.

If I go either one of these routes, Can anyone advice on what the best course of action is

    Thanks in advance

    Try with ORACLE MIGRATION ASSISTANT.
Test it first of dev env.

Since 8.1.6 is no longer supported, I would go with 8.1.7.4 if it's available on your platform.

All 8.1.6.x was desupported in 2001. 8.1.7.x is the only supported 8i version left.

    Thanks Jeff,

I logged on to metalink anf found this out. Looks at bosses will have to get 8.1.7 licences after all.

Those who have done it, what is the best way to go from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7

    Thanks

Since you only have a few instances to migrate/upgrade, I'd use the migration assistant (odma).
