    Hello,
    when did you add the datafile in primary database...?
    all the archive logs are applied to standby db after creating datafiles in primary???.....if the answer is NOOOO.Please wait...
    till get applied are archive log files....when the particular datafile archive is applied it will cry asking need 'BLAWBLAW datafile missing" like that.
    at that time ....create datafile...in standby db..by
    ALTER DATABASE CREATE DATAFILE 'XXXXXXXXX.DBF' AS 'XXXXXXXXX.DBF';
    it will accept and allow you to create.
    Till then please sit fingures crossed..
    Thanks.
    Thanigaivasan.

    If you use Oracle 9i or later, you can also set STANDBY_PRESERVE_NAMES to true to keep synchronized between PRIMARY DB and STANDBY DB.
