    Dear Friends,

I am taking Oracle cold backup of one tablespace through RMAN. When i want to delete the older Backup through RMAN, in order to get more space in TAPE, i am getting the following error.

    I allocate channel for MAINTENANCE.

Since you're using tape, I don't think you can delete the backup file phsically. The error shows you that RMAN can not find the backup file which is not found in the current tape in your tape driver (at the sharp time when you execute delete command).
I think the only think you need to do is to delete the backup from RMAN (repository) and replace the tape.

Oracle document says, we can delete the obsolete backup & expired backup.

Can't we use RMAN for deleting the BACKUP from TAPE.

Can i get some more experts advice.

    Thanks in Advance
