Hi
I'd like to know if any of you guys/girls have had and experiences with EMC Clarion storage arrays. Our company is currently looking at implementing this hardware and would be interested in how it handles Oracle implementations.
We are intending to port several of our production databases (mostly 8.1.7) from thier NT and Sun hosts. It is particulalry the Clarion experience I am interested in
Thanks in advance

I use Clarion (5.0) over Oracle. What would you like to know?

Hi Julian,
Bassically we are considering implementing this hardware and I really want to know any potential pitfalls (if any) people may have encountered.
eg.
Have you found any serious failings in the architecture that you have had to work around.
Have you found performance comparable/improved/declined when moving from static raids on a host.
Any problems working across multiple platforms.
Any considerations I should be aware of when looking to migrate production systems onto the hardware.
Sorry to be a bit vague only I'm not sure what I'm letting myself in for and as I have not been heaviy involved with the introduction of this hardware I'm really trying to guage where I might need to make major changes.
Thanks in advance
Jim

The Clariion arrays are good boxes. EMC bought the technology from Data General a couple of years back. When I last looked at Clariion arrays, they were open (as opposed to all other EMC stuff) and supported a wide range of RAID Levels and connectivity options. We tested several arrays and were very impressed with the performance of the Clariion boxes. We would have probably chosen the Clariion boxes if DG's business wasn't in jeapordy.
If you are putting these boxes in a SAN, then I can comment on general SAN use with Oracle.

Sorrry, missunderstanding. Since you wrote in the first message Clarion (not Clariion), I assumed you were talking about the language Clarion (very similar to Oracle Forms). In fact only after Jeff's reply I understood you meant Clariion :-)
