I am using an oracle 8.1.7 database in Windows NT 4.0 machine where I am trying to run a report thru Crystal Report 7.0. I am getting the following error -
ODBC error:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]Ora-1652: unable to extend segment by 207384 in tablespace SYSTEM
ORA-27068:skgfdisp:buffer is not aligned properly
OSD-04005 - SetFilePointer() failure, unable to read from file
O/S-Error:(OS 112) There is not eno
The above error is generated when a report is being generated with high volume of data, but the same report is going thru when there is lesser data involved.
I am also giving the sum(bytes) and max(bytes) from dba_free_space to show how much free space I have in the database.
(max bytes)
INDX 60809216
RBS 1049616384
SALEDATA 524279808
SYSTEM 3404578816
TEMP 542629888
TOOLS 12574720
USERS 28835840
(sum bytes)
INDX 60809216
RBS 1052762112
SALEDATA 524279808
SYSTEM 3404578816
TEMP 752336896
TOOLS 12574720
USERS 50847744
I would appreciate if anybody can help me in this. I have already added 200MB in temp tablespace to take it to 752 MB.
What can I do next ?

Which is the temporary tablespace assigned to the user? I suspect its temp tablespace is SYSTEM.

The temporary tablespace was SYSTEM, I have changed it to TEMP. I am trying the report again, lets see what happens...

Could be. Also, it seems that Oracle is not able to resize the datafile, it is a resize problem too.

Same problem coming up again even after changing the temporary tablespace from system to temp for user.
unable to extend temp segment by 64 in tablespace temp
ORA-27068:skgfdisp:buffer is not aligned properly
OSD-04005 - SetFilePointer() failure, unable to read from file.
How can I solve the datafile resize problem ?

It is an internal oracle error. Is there any trace file generated?

Looks like that. Let's see the trace. Check if you have enough memory on the disk where you have the SYSTEM datafile.

I have checked the alert.log but there is nothing in it except
'unable to extend temp segment by 64 in tablespace temp'.
I checked the diskspace and that particular drive is having only 17 MB free. I further checked the datafile size, the temp01.dbf is now 1GB (which was previously 550 MB) and the system datafile size is now 3.23 GB (when it was created, it was 264MB). All the datafiles are having autoextend on. I took a full export of the database and it is coming to 5 MB only. I am really surprised (this is the first time I am looking into the database as the 'original' dba is out on oracle9i training). Now for 5MB data I don't need a 3.23 GB system datafile nor do I need 1.2 GB of temp tablespace. Since I donot have space in the D:\ drive where my database is, what should I do next ?

What has gone on? Why is the system file so big? 3GB! Wow!

SYSTEM tablespace is 3GB!!!
DBA is on 9i training!!
I think it is right time to look for a new DBA.
If your database full export can fit into 5MB then I don't think you need this big TEMP tablespace.
If possible you may try bouncing the database in order to free-up TEMP tablespace.
