    Question

    Hi guys,

We recently migrated to Oracle 8i (81730) from 805.

I would appreciate if I get to know that as a DBA, which new features and init.ora parameters could be used in 8i to improve the database performance.

I tried to use CURSOR_SHARING by changing it to FORCE in init.ora but started getting errors in Oracle Reports. I have opened thread for that.

    Pl. advise.

    Thanks in Adv.

Do you already use cursor_space_for_time? And session_cached_cursors?

If you don't currently make sure you double your SGA before enabling them. Also double open_cursors....

    Hi,

I would get more info on cursor_space_for_time and session_cached_cursors.

We have already very big SGA like 1.2 GB. Our physical RAM on server is 2.6 GB only. So, I might not be able to double the SGA.

I did not understand why we need to double open_cursors.

    Thanks,

    Sam
