Hello!
im planning to take the 9i ugrade exam soon. yesterday, i visited amazon.com and found out that the 9i new features by Oracle Press have a very low user rating. Can you guys suggest a good book for 9i New Features exam or any resources on the Net for that matter?
BTW, im currently trying to learn UNIX, im experienced in Oracle ruuning on NT, but i believe most Oracle DBs run on UNIX, so i decided to study. Any good books / resources on the Net that you can recommend?
Thanks in advance

Is the book in question by Daniel Benjamin ISBN: 0-07-219530-4
If so it is the book I am using ... I am finding a few things that don't jive between the book and practice questions, but overall it seems pretty solid.
I was going to go for the exam on Monday, so I should have more info then.

Hi Maverick
I would suggest the following things for 9i upgrade exam.
a)www.oracle-base.com by Tim Hall..i think this is the best stuff you can ever get.Time also gives us permission to take print out from his site. His site is the best....
b)Oracle 9i new features guide by Robert Freeman This book is also quite good...best in its class..
c)You can also download Howard Rogers work from http://www.oracle-base.com this material is the ILT..you can mail me at luv_hrishi@excite.com if you cant locate it at http://www.oracle-base.com

thank you very much hrishy.
Tim Hall & Howard Rogers (unfortunately it is no longer availble - http://www.hjrdba.com) has really contributed a lot in helping ppl pass OCP exams. I frequently visit their site for insights and addl info on Oracle.
On the UNIX book, i'll check out the book that you recommended, but i was hoping for an UNIX introductory book in general. I hope you can recommend one.
I was planning to buy SAMS Teach yourself Unix in 24 hrs. Any feedback on this book?
Thanks again.

Two good UNIX reference books are O'Reilly's UNIX in a Nutshell, and Osborne's Solaris 8, Complete Reference (Sun has 54% of the UNIX market; when in Rome, do as the Romans...).
