    Hi,

I have two tables named the same in two schema's that are in the same database. How can I create two public synonyms cos it complains saying it already exists. This could be a problem as the forms/reports have already been coded..

    Any ideas??

    To explain more :-

User OWN has a table called SUPPLIERS that already has a public synonym in database LIVE called SUPPLIERS.

User VAL also has a table called SUPPLIERS (using different system storing diff data) and when I'm trying to create a public synonym SUPPLIERS so other users can access the data it complains saying public synonym already exists......

How do I get round it??

    Hi,

As far as I know you cannot have two public synonyms with the same name. Your only work around will be to rename the table/synonym and change the code!

Sorry pal, someone else might have a better idea.......

    good luck,

    Hi,

You can't have two public synonyms with the same name, because these are owned by PUBLIC. They are not owned by the other schemas. Only way to go is to create public synonym with different name or create a private synonym.

I hope it answered your problem.

    Thanks
