I have reinstall Oracle Net services 9.0.1.1.1. Still the problem is there.

the files names.ora is as follows

    #network domain
    #name
    NAMES.DOMAINS=
    (DOMAIN=

1 Mention the Oracle sid, instance name in the Names Field.

2 Also try giving the machine ip address in the host field.

    3 protocol = tcp/ip

    4 port - default is 1521

    try this

    good luck.

Let us know when the problem is resolved.

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. But Howport 1521 can be used for
Names Server. It is default post of Listener. One listener is running on this port. I think default port is 1575 for Names server. At first I want to start only Names Server . So there
is no need of giving sid or instance name. Am I right ? Iwant to start the Names Server first . The problem is not solved . I did "ping peerhosp" . It is working . Pl. help me .
