Since Oracle9i Release 2 is a terminal release, Oracle must be working on Oracle10i. If this is the case it significantly reduces the life expectancy of Oracle8i and it's certification.

    Interesting thought!

It also means another upgrade exam.

Angry Upgrade already? I just installed Oracle 9i R2

    Damn It ! ! ! I just framed my Oracle 9i certification.

Now Oracle 10i is coming . . . hopefully the "New Features" will be less stressful then my Beta test experience for Oracle 9i (I missed it by one and came back to take the "live" test).

Since Oracle lost of contract with the Californian Govt, Oracle have to get their revenue form somewhere else now... it's a bit of a joke really.

I'm just curious about 10i: if you are say OCM, then do you have to upgrade both OCP and OCM or only one upgrade exam will suffice :-) Let's hope that it will not cost $2000.

I suppose it depends on the extent of the changes in any new release. If the basic administration is the same I doubt there is a need to upgrade the OCM since the things they are likey to throw at you will be the same. If there are significant differences then I think a retest is necessary.

I don't mind doing another exam or two since the cost is relatively low. I'm not gonna do the OCM unless someone offers to pay me to. I certainly would not consider doing it then upgrading. That sort of money is best spent on fast cars, loose women and booze
