Hello,
1.First you have to a create new user, you can't run runinstaller by root user
2. Run xhost+ command from root
3.Login with new user(normally ORACLE with oradba primary group and orainstall and oraoper sub groups).
4. After loging by oracle user apply two commands
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
and
/usr/i386/bin/i386
run both the commands.
after that run your ./runinstaller
Try this and send me the result.
Take care
bye

But little problem!
Oracle 8.1.6 incompatible with Linux RH 7.3.
Oldest version for Oracle 8.1.6 (without downgrade) RH 6.2!

where do i find 6.2?
I have searched over the net and unable to find it

Maybe......... ftp.redhat.com

Solution
Hi,
I am sending a excellent document file to dbasupport .The moderator will attach the same document to this thread. So that you can easily follow the document step by step installation of Oracle on Linux.
