Are there any recommended methods/tools for taking data from a spreadsheet to an Oracle database?
We have spreadsheets with tens of thousands of rows and want to be able to use a tool to assist in this process.
We also didn't want to use SQL*Loader. We were looking for a user friendly way of doing this. Something that ties into Excel would be nice.
Are they any other front end tools which have excel like capabilities which can take data directly back to the database?
Thanks for the help.

What about Oracle 9i ETL ( External Tables). I am not sure what oracle version you are using.

you can use OEM tool (load wizard) to load the data.

i use Oracle 8i.
to transfer the data from spreadsheet to Oracle tables i use MSACCESS.
1. Open MSACCESS
2. Import Excel Spreadsheet
3. Export the table using ODBC to Oracle table.
DSN should be created for Oracle user in which you have to import the data.

SQL Loader is also quiet good to use.
Depends upon you whether to use or not,

You can use EXCEL'S DATA-> get external data option to get data using ODBC.You can choose tables and columns graphically using that
