HI everybody,
I installed oracle 817 and 816 in one machine in two home directory.
Is taht correct? does it wor fine?
Listener is also up. But there is only one listener. If I want to configure separate listener for each database, how to do the same.

The default name of the listener is 'LISTENER'.You can configure another listener with another name like 'LISTENER1'.
This will enable u and oracle to distinguish between two listeners.

You must configure the listeners to listen on different ports. They usually listen on 1521. One must use a different number. You client tnsnames.ora files must reflect this port alteration.

Hi Tim,
Do u think just by chaning the port number will do,Should not we change the listener name also.Because if we need to trouble shoot the listener,we need to give the listener name.Giving the default listener name we will not know for which oracle home we are servicing.
please help me if i am wrong.

Yes, I'd give it a different name. I was just pointing out that with a different name alone the second listener will not even start, let alone work, since you can't have more than one device listening on a single port.
I'll try to be a bit more verbose next time
