Thread: How to plan for DB Growth

    Hi

    I have been looking after an 817 DB of about 40GB . The management here wants to do future DB growth estimation and future space planning .

    What options do I have

    1) tool
    2) scripts to take regular snapshots of DB

    etc .

    Please advise me on this

    Scripts and tools won't help you out unless you know which entities will be growing and which entities will stay static. For entities that grow, figure out how much data is added in 1 month and calculate your growth based on those estimates, projected growth of the business, fudge factor, etc.
