Thread: oracle installation problem

    hi,
    in windows NT system oracle8i is not uninstalled properly, instead of
    uninstalling they deleted the oracle folder and register entries.
    now i want to install oracle8i again, then it is giving this service is
    already there like some message is coming.how to delete these entries from services in Windows NT.after installation is completed, while connecting through sql, it is giving protocol adaptor error is coming.
    give solution

    run regedit
    remove all oracle entries on HK_Local Key....
    install Oracle again..should work

    Hello;

    - Use oradim to delete/create Oracle-services manually
    - Look into Registry if ORACLE_SID is correctly set.
    - Check if LOCAL Reg-Entry exists and if the content is ok

    in regedit.
    Delete in hkey_local_machine/software/oracle.
    The oracle directory.
    also remove in
    hkey_local_machine/software/system/services/..
    the current control set.
    After these 2 delete's you can successfully reinstall the software.

    correction in the current control set remove oracle service(s), you can remove all of them.
    Don't remove the current control set itself!!(my mistake).
