    Hi Friends,

I am attempting to learn more about 'data block' waits in v$waitstats.

I have read that it is possible to get block dumps which will allow me to take a look at ITL count for blocks. This will allow me to determine how many freelists required.

Can anyone please tell me how to do this.

I have also read that data block waits can be due to 2 sessions requiring the same block. this can be determined by the P3 parameter in v$session wait.

Does anyone have a breakdown of the different codes in P3 and what they mean.

I have some examples of P3 codes found on my system.

Can anyone tell me what they mean :-

Once you have eliminated all of the impossible,
    whatever remains however improbable,
    must be true.
