11.0.3 to 11i upgrade question

Hi all,

We are in process of upgrading application from 11.0.3 to 11i (11.5.5).

I have foll. question.

We have two new servers (2-tier) for hosting 11i application and the database. We have existing old 11.0.3 server (single tier). For 11i upgrade, I have to first install 11.0.3 application on to new servers and then perform 11i upgrade on them. When the upgrade will be going on, users will be working on 11.0.3 old servers.

After I finish the 11i upgrade, how will I pull the current database from 11.0.3 server to 11i server? Can I do cloning from old 11.0.3 database to new 11i database server? After I do the cloning, Do I have to perform the 11i upgrade again on just the database?

Pl. clarify.

Hi,

You're better upgrade your production database into 8.1.7 first before upgrade applications. Once you upgrade 11i in two new servers, you may copy the database files from production machine into the new server directly.

After that, run the database driver scripts to upgrade the database, recompile APPS, flexfield .... etc post steps.

Bear in mind to perform the 'rehersal' before the real one.
