    Hi all,

It keeps on generating foll. error message in ALERT.log file for our PROD database.

    Errors in file E:\oa\orant\RDBMS80\trace\ORA00864.TRC:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [psdufa], [1], [], [], [], [], [], []

What is the meaning of this code [psdufa] and [1]?

It shows up this error in ORA00864.trc as well.

    Is this harmless error?

    Pl. advise.

    Thanks,

    Sam

Did you try metalink or taking it up with Oracle?

I forgot to mention that We are on Oracle 8.0.5.

Yes, I once created the TAR also. Their reply was standard i.e. upgrade to 8i and this problem will go away. But I don't believe much on it. I have seen threads where in 8i database also get this error.

    Any other suggestion?

    Thanks,
    Sam

If you search Metalink for psdufa you will find lots of information on the problem and possible fixes

Appears to be a problem with the utl_file_dir parameter.
