I intalled Oracle Server on my computer, and I tried to create a new DataBase, but when I'm going to create a service pointing to that Database,I can't connect because I have no listener service on my computer...How can I add it????
Thanks
-
Hi,
You can add listener in 2 ways:
1. Use Net8 Configuration Assistant.
2. Open the file Listener.ora and manually include your new instance info.

I always get the same error:
ORA-12541
and I can't connect to the database...

Hi,
For configuring the listener it is not necessary to login to the database.
Configure the listener and then create a net service name, by adding an entry into TNSNAMES.ORA file
either by using NET8 CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT or MANUALLY EDITING THE FILE.
Please give the complete error message, OS and version what ever u are facing.

Then start the listener service by invoking
lsnrctl start.
then continue.

I believe that you are looking for the exact command to add the listener service into the "control panel/services." I don't remember on top of my head. However, if you can find one listener service entry on the registry of other NT servers, you can export that key, modify it, then import the key back to your NT server. This will add the listener services on the "control panel/services."

Yes,Susan, you are right,I want to add the listener service to the control panel/services...But I don't know how can I get OracleOraHome81TNSListener working...
-
Just go to Control panel/Services, Right click on OracleOraHome81TNSListener, select Start. To start it automatically, use Properties option, General Type, Startup type.

type "oradim " on dos prompt. It will list the syntax on how to add services in registry.

...Thanks,but I don't have OracleOraHome81TNSListener on my computer...That's the problem...I need a way to get it,so I could start it.
I have more Databases installed, but the one I created with the Oracle server installed on my computer,is the only who doesn't work, and I can't connect because of the listener...
