Problem(s) with Universal Installer

Hello!

I am using Oralce 8.1.7 and Win Nt4.

When I insert a Oracle CD (any Oralce CD) universal installer starts but, when I press NEXT or INSTALLED PRODUCTS, installer just closes down - disapears. If I insert the same CD on my own computer then it works just fine.


If I start Universal Installer from start menu - Program -> Oracle Installation Products -> Universal Installer, then again Installer starts but if I press NEXT or INSTALLED PRODUCTS, then I get an error from Dr. Watson :

An application error has occurred
and an application error log is being generated

is the machine is Pentium 4? It it is it won't work. You need to load only 8.1.5 for this. It is again not the regular one. there is a different version available for download at the oracle site.

The machine is not Pentium4

P.S. Installer was workin just fine. Then it just stoped working.

The installer also had problems with certain versions of Lotus Notes. Have you installed/upgraded the JRE recently? You may want to follow the troubleshooting outlined here for the pentium 4 even though it is not a pentium 4.
