Thread: Do I need to OracleStartPROD service in 8i?

    I have upgraded the database from Oracle 7.3.4 to 8.1.7. When upgrading I did the following:
    oradim73 -delete -sid PROD
    oradim -new -sid PROD -startmode auto -pfile e:\oracle\ora81\database\initprod.ora

    I know in Oracle 8i the OracleStart service is no longer created, but I still have this service on the server. How do I delete it? or is it actually needed?
