I've got this error message in my alert log
Unable to extend temp segment by 13 in in tablespace CL_TMP01.
These are the values:
initial 104
next 104
minextent 0
increment by 0%
max value unlimited
Type Temporary.
The datafile CL_TMP01.dbf is 50M.
We're using a 3rd party software and these are the settings provided.
I'm still getting this error although I've set maxextents to unlimited. Shd I add an additional datafile to this?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
Either add a datafile or increase the size of the file.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Okay to change in DBA Studio?

Thanks Vijay. I've noticed there's no sort_area_size parameter in our init.ora. Should I set this?
-
Certainly! Give it a few megs, the default is usually too small.
ovidius over!

arent those storage settings too bad....? initial 104 bytes?
sort_area_size by default is 64K
-
Yes, I think they are. Any suggestions?

extent size for temp tablespace should be a multiple of sort area size + 1BLOCK (For Segment Header).
Once you have eliminated all of the impossible,
whatever remains however improbable,
must be true.

1 extra block... but there is only one segment in the whole tablespace so I dont think that setting makes sense (not in Oracle 8i anyways)
