How to increase the value of PROCESSES parameter? Is there any calulation in that and does it required to be tuned? If so what is the benchmark value of it for tuning?

Also right now my SESSIONS parameter is 280 and what is the maximum value which I can set? Is this parameter also depends upon availability of memory or any other resources?

Could any one clear my doubt

here is some documentation on init.ora parameters and dictionary views.

Once you have eliminated all of the impossible,
    whatever remains however improbable,
    must be true.

    Hi,

The value for PROCESSES should be calculated based on the total no. of
user processes who will be establishing the connections with the server.
This value should always be no. of users + 5 processes(mandatory bg processes).
The benchmarking value will depend on the amount of memory available on the
server in which the Oracle Server is running. If less amount of memory is available
and more no. of processes are created, then this will degrade your performance.

As far as the sessions parameter is concerned, you should set to a value
    baseed on your license.

    Vijay.
