No. Release 2 will be 9.2

    Read this:

    Release Number Format
An Oracle database server distribution tape might be labeled "release 8.1.5.1.1". The following will help you understand the release level nomenclature used by Oracle.

    8 - Version number
1 - New features release number
    5 - Maintenance release number
1 - Generic patch set number
1 - Platform specific patch set number"

Hm, is it determined yet that 9i Release 2 will be numbered as 9.2? Not 9.1?

From the 8i naming scheme, I would assume it would be 9.0.2.

http://technet.oracle.com has a white paper on Oracle9i Database Architecture on Windows.

If you open the paper, it's about architecture of 9i Release 2. I didn't think that was available yet.
