    Hi all:

I am running into a wierd problem while creating a database using database config assistant. It just doesn't take the keyboard input. For example, when I typed in the name of the DB that I want to create, nothing happens. Is this an Oracle bug? Is there a workaround solution to this? Any patch that need to be applied? It had happened to me once in the past, and the only way I could do was to restart the server. Well, I don't have that luxury this time around. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Oop, almost forget. Ours is Oracle 8.17 running on W2K server.

    Thanks

    John

    Hi Sam:

the spec are: 2 GB RAM, 130 GB HD, RAID 5.
Also, SP2. We have plenty of HD space left, almost 50GB to be exact.

Must you really use DBCA to create your dbase? Why not just forget about the "bs" and create your database manually. All roads lead to Rome, they say. If you need help with creating it manually reply with your email address.

    Hi Sam:

The processor is PIII, 1.26 GHz.

As to why we have to use DBCA, hey it's not my call. Since it's my boss' mandate, what a pee-on like me going to say. However, if you don't mind, please email me the script to
    vn_usa@yahoo.com

    Thanks

    Hi ndisang:

Is there you can email me the script on how to create the DB manually. My email address is vn_usa@yahoo.com.
I am just about giving up on trying to figure out why DBCA just hangs on me. Unfortunately, I can't reboot the server either. Would be on unemployment line if I do.

    Thanks

    John
