8.1.7.3.0 is the latest major patch.

If you are planning to do any migration, then my suggestion would be to install the base, migrate and then apply the patchset on top of it.

I know Oracle recommends this, but have you had a problem with upgrading directly to 8.1.7.x? I've migrated several 8.1.5.1 dbs to 8.1.7.1 & 8.1.7.2 without problem.

    patch levels for 8.1.7

Actually, the word I got from Oracle support was to upgrade to 8.1.7.2, but not to go to 8.1.7.3 as that patch had several large memory leak problems. This is scheduled to be fixed in the next major release, they said.

    Jeff,

Yes, I did encounter a problem once. with migrating from 8.0.4 to 8.1.6. From that point on, I don't want to take any chances, because, what happen was when I spoke to oracle, I mentioned that I migrated to 8.1.6.2, their first question was how did you migrated, and after hearing my story, their reply was go back and start at the base and then apply the patch. IT all worked after that and I was happy.

From that time, I'll spend some time more in following things step by step, rather than going back to re-do things with the agonny

Look under the patches and you will find by giving the version as 8.1.7.3
