Thread: init.ora Parameter

    Question

    Hi All

    I am trying to create adatabase link, and the link is create successfully. the problem is when I try to connect to the other database using the link I get a ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name. I know there is a parameter in the init.ora which needs to be set. Which one is is and what is the Value.

    Hi,
    check if the service name you put in the USING clause exists in tnsnames.ora file on the server you're connected to.

    As far as init.ora params are concerned, I think you want global_names set to false.
