I am seeking recommmendations as to the best of class , monitoring/adminstration/maintenance utilities/softwares that are being used to manage Oracle 8.0.5 and SQL Server 7.0 RDBMS.

We have many 24/7 db on Win NT and need tools be proactive & provide maintenance/tuning.....

Can you point out most effecient tools in the market?

There are numerous third party tools available in the market. if you go and search in any search engines u'll find it. even go to oracle magazines .

but i think the best is OEM and that if you want to manage your database using some GUI.

other wise my personal opinion is the best tool is SQL*Plus.

Expand Beyond is very cool. But it gets pricey if you have many databases to monitor and multiple DBAs.

Quest's Spotlight is my favorite. Specifically when the users call and say they had a problem 20 minutes ago! (It keeps ongoing graphs of how the db is performing)
