    Question

Can someone remind me, I have a server which is regularly issuing an NT warning screen -

Warning - the following error occured during ORACLE redo log archival
Oracle instance orcl - can not allocate log, archive required
    press enter to acknowledge message

How do I best fix this? do I need to increase the logfile sizes, have more groups or do I need more archiver processes?

    Any help is appreciated!

Add more and/or make them bigger.

Logfile destination has plenty of free space,

I think it happens when a lot of redo is being generated and the archiver hasn't written out the old file before it is needed again

    Exclamation

It is NOT of any help to make group files bigger, because the bigger they are, the more need the archiver to work for move it in archive. You need to add MORE GROUPS - at least one group more. Personally I reccomend at least 2 more, if the files are small.
    ovidius over!
