    hello friends

    i connected as sys user and made the following query

    select table_name, tablespace_name from dba_tables;

    i got the output but i found that some of the tables were not having a
    tablespace at all. these tables were either created by the user or
    system tables(for example empinfo,test(user defined tables)
    and dr$seq, partitionexchange2,etc (inbuilt tables).
    how can this be possible? can anyone explain me please.

    thanks in advance

    regards
    swaminathan

    I'm pretty sure they are temporary tables, LMT's, one or the other.
    Check the 'type' in dba_tables as well.

    There are several internal tables that a hardcoded into the Oracle kernel. In paritioned tables the partitions are the ones having the extents. Global temporary table extents are created in the temporary tablespace for the user and you will not see a tablespace_name for them in your query.
