    Hi friends,
Could you pl clarify me for this question.
What is the purpose of Maxinstances parameter in the 'Create Database..' script? In the book it says,"Specfies the maximum number of Oracle instances that can simultaneously mount". But I hope that one oracle instance can have only one database. Pl clarify me. Coz book also refer ,this option is called parralell server.
    Thanks in advance
    Siva

Maximum number of instances that can access a database concurrently.
In parallel server option more than one extent can access the same database.

that is called Oracle Parallel Server, in 9i it is renamed to Real Aplication Clusters
if you wanna simulate in a PC read the notes on Metalink but I am not sure if you can simulate in Windows since I have only seens notes for Linux RedHAt
