    Web Server vs Apps Server vs Forms Server

    The applications server, or middle-tier, is the physical host or machine where you've installed the web server and forms server.

    Oracle Applications 11i uses a 3-tiered internet computing architecture (formely known as NCA in release 10.7 + 11.0.3). The 3 tiers are as follows: database, applications or middle-tier, and the client (web browser).
