    Hi all!

    Query:

    Working on Oracle v8i 8.1.6.0.0 with OS as NT!

    1.I passed this command as under:

    C:\>rman nocatalog target rman/rman@biac

    RMAN>run{
    allocate channel c1 type disk;
    backup database;};

    The above command fails and throws some error message both in the ARCHIVELOG and NOARCHIVELOG mode database.

    What's wrong here!

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amit.

    see you have connect as rman/rman user in the target database .IT has to be connected as internal or sys or a user which as sysdba privilige .....

    if the database is noarchivelog and if the database is online you can't do a backup database ;

    you have to shutdown normal ,startup mount then do the backup ...
