Thread: remote_login_passwordfile

    Hi guys,

    I have changed the paramete in Init.ora of Remote_login_passwordfile to None.. Still when i am trying to mount my database it says cannot mount the database in Exclusive mode.. What can be the problem..

    :-) Every database is started in EXCLUSIVE mode by default. The "EXCLUSIVE" in remote_login_passwordfile has nothing to do with the mode the DB is tsated in (EXCLUSIVE or PARALLEL).

    I guess that you have the following problem: the processes for Oracle (pmon, smon, lgwr and dbwr) still exist or shared memory segments and semaphores still exist even though the database has been shutdown.

    If you run the DB on one of those Bill Gates's machines, stop the service and start it again. Shutdown immediate if possible, shutdown abort if not and then startup.
