    Hi everybody,

I'm having problems when trying to start automatically the database instance automatically.

It runs on a Windows 2000 Server on a Dell PowerEdge 2400.

We've set up the instance to start automatically, but we are unable to startup the database. We need to enter svrmgrl and start it up manually.

If I enter svrmgrl and type connect, it asks me for password.

It could be because archive_log is set up?

Any help will be very gratefull.

    1. Did you setup it to startup automatically? If not then change it using oradim utility.
    2. Set the Oracle Service to start automatically.

Archive_log has nothing to do with database startup.

    Do the following:

    When you get into SVRMGRL,

    SVRMGRL> Connect internal

    SVRMGRL>Password:

    SVRMGRL>Startup

    It should start.

For Autmatic start, go to services and see if a service is aleady there by the name of the database. If so, go to the properties and click on "Automatic". If you have already done it, try deleting the service and re-creating it using oradim.exe. Hope it should help
