    Red face

    This qst is in my head for a long long time. I decide that I'm going to find the answer(s) today.

    What options would you use when you export and import database? and why?

    Every situation is different. See http://technet.oracle.com/docs/produ...i/content.html for details.

    Sorry for the vague qst. What I'm question about is the performance side of export and import. What paramters would you use to improve the export and import process? Suxh as no index while importing data? etc.

    For data exports

    DIRECT=Y

    Imports,

    increase the size of

    BUFFER

    from default of 64K. Might want to try 5MB.

    Would you consider disable the index option while importing the data as a good performance tip? If yes, you will have to import the index as the seperate process. So, what performance improvement will it be?

    BTW, thank you for providing your input.

    Susan,
    I wouldn't disable it, but why don't you try the db administraton forum, there your query will be taken care of better.
