Hi,
I am running 816 EE on NT. DB Size 120 GB.
Currently I am having 30 Rollback segs with following storage parameters
INITIAL 1M
NEXT 1M
OPTIMAL 8M
MINEXTENTS 2
MAXEXTENTS 505
ROLLBACK Tablespace Size is 300 M.
I am observing this parameter while I run a specific report.
I got this error sometime back also (around 2 months back) at that time I increased rollback segments to 30.
Now What.... I just cannot keep on increasing segments.
Error is encountered while a select statement is getting executed.
Help me.......report is a daily reqirement and it was runing perfectly till yesterday....

1. Increase your rollback tablespace size.
2. Assign bigger rollback segments for your query by using
set transaction use rollback segment
3. If your query still does not work , then increase your rollback size.

your minextents is too small, therefore your optimal
set minextents to 40 and optimal to 40MB
-
minextents
Please clear
Minextents - is used to allocate new extents, by setting this it will allocate 40 extents in next extend. right.
Optimal : setting optimal to 40 MB, then i need to increase size of rollback segment as
30 rollback segments x 40 MB > 300 (My current rollback tablespace size)

Hi Vijay,
At least make you optimal match your minextents (i.e 8 in your case)
Cheers

Why ?
Oracle says that
OPTIMAL should be > next * minextents
right ?

Sorry pando,
i was confused due to the problem.
minextents is how much extents allocated when segment gets created.
right ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------now tell me
Optimal : setting optimal to 40 MB, then i need to increase size of rollback segment as
30 rollback segments x 40 MB > 300 (My current rollback tablespace size)
wil it solve the problem

I have increased the optimal size to *M, earlier it was 5M.
