Hello everybody, I need to know whether it is possible for a client machine to connect to oracle 8.0 server only using a dialup modem connection.
Currently we are having the oracle 8.0 server on the ntserver and one of the client which is located in a seperate building first get connected to the ntserver using the PCanywhere s/w & modem, and then opens the D2K application present on the ntserver itself which is quiet risky as the full ntserver rescources is available to the remote client.
My main question is that, is it possible using a modem to give only the oracle8.0 server rescources to the remote client?, thus deploying the D2K application on the remote client itself and preventing acces to other ntserver rescources.....
if so can there be more then one modem connection to the oracle8.0 server.
Need your advice urgently....
Thanks.

Hi
Yes you can use a dialup connection to access the windows NT Server and you can use client tools at the client machine to access the database.
You might need to use a mutli line modem router for multiple connections
