    When are raw devices mandatory for an Oracle database on a Unix platform.

    Hi,
    Raw devices are needed when the same datafiles and otherOracle files needs to be shared across multiple instances. For example when you implement RAC on 9i on OS other that Compaq Tru64 UNIX you need RAW devices.
