    Hi Folks,

    Oracle 7.4
    OS. HP UNIX

Folks our client is planning to migrate from Oracle 7 to Oracle 8. We have interface to lot of databases.
Like Another Oracle Database which will reside in Oracle7. AS-400, plus inerface with C++, SQL Server.

Is there information about issuse and concerns to care while migrating to Oracle8 from Oracle 7 and also what care needs to be taken as One database will be in Oracle 7 and other in Oracle 8. Downward compatibility. Data from Oracle 8 will update data from Oracle7.

    Thanks.
    Tan.

    Thanks.

Also can we update data say if one of the database is in Oracle7 and other in 8 and I need to updata data in both the databases say 7 and 8.

eg. Data from Oracle 7 will update some tables in Oracle8 and vice-versa.

    Thanks.

    Migrate Orace7 to Oracle 8

Say after migration, I have one database in Oracle8 and another in Oracle7. Now can Oracle7 update data/tables in Oracle8 and Oracle8 update data/tables in Oracle7.

    Thanks.

yes, they can update data in each other as long as the Oracle 8 database doesn't use LOBs and such that are not available in 7
