    is it possible to run a form without connecting to the database?

    Sure, just write in that forms a null ON-LOGON trigger. I don´t know exactly WHAT this will buy to you, but it works ....

    on ON-LOGON u may write:
    ON-LOGON
    null;

    u can know more about on-logon, if u read :
    help ON-LOGON, process
