    How to decide the size of the buffer cache generally this is a tendency that you have to give larger size to your buffer cache buthow much is the limit of the buffer cache can anybody give some suggestion for the same

    Start off with how much you think it should be and monitor it from there. Monitor your buffer cache hit ratio http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/...9_mem.htm#1720 . You should aim for a hit ratio of about 95% or better.

    For a small OLTP database (50 concurrent users or so, 100G data), I like to start off with 128M of buffer cache. For apps with a large number of users, I start with 256M and go up from there.
