    Thanks Sanjay. It is working.

    Sorry! Previously I have done a mistake that, I tried with only two partitions, one is for Jan and upper partition is for dec. And coolly I was inserting values for Feb. month, obviously records inserted into Dec. partition. I am a fool, How can I expect my records go into Jan month!?

    I think there is a fundamental flaw in the table design. I may be wrong with the example you gave here.
    An attribute (a substring of an attribute) in a table should not depend upon itself (or rest of the values in the attribute).

    In your case the first 2 characters of session_id is not a good candidate for the partition key.

    Have a one more look on the table design. Atleast your development work will be easy.
