    Hi:
I have passed all DBA 8i certificate exam. Before, I am using Window version student Oracle software.
Now , I am installing Solaris 8 in my second harddive which doen't work and it force me to set it as primary drive then working.
I following the instruction of this :
    http://www.bolthole.com/solaris/oracle.html
I revised the environment virable exactly as this, and install the oracle 8.0.0.5. When I log in as oracle , Solaris is working. But I prompt to svrmgl and try to connect system/manager, it doesn't working. Same as sqlplus, it start up, but can't log in .
How can I change the oracle setting in my system?
Does anyone know how to install solaris 8 and oracle 8i in second hard drive, make it working. So I don't need to switch hard drive every day.
    Any tip is helpful

you can intall both 8 and 8i and the same drive. You don't have to switch drives. all you have to do is give them different Oracle Homes. eg
    /uo1/oracle/product/8.0XX
    /u01/oracle/product/8.1.X

Are you sure the install is good. Sounds like not. Your error messages would help.
Life is what is happening today while you were planning tomorrow.
