    Thumbs up

    Hi all!
One thing which is missing in this forum is regarding discussion about different type of Interview questions.I know that some guys will start like these things depends upon the company and the type of database they are using, but still it will be of great help for newbbies. For example
Mr.MAVERICK recently attended one interview, he can post some of his quesions.

    bye

Q - What do you think you can bring to the company?
A - I can make it the base for my international porn syndicate!

Q - Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
A - Doing your job when everyone sees I'm better than you!

Q - What are your weaknesses?
A - I get p*ssed off when people ask me stupid questions!

Q - What are your strengths?
A - I'm funny, intelligent, hansome, women love me and men want to be me!

Q - What do you see as the role of IT in business?
A - It's primary function is to make the workplace more fun by enabling you to pass jokes amongst your friends all day instead of working. Have you seen that Britney Spears screen saver?

Q - How do you feel about working directly with customers?
A - Depends how pretty they are!

    .....

I've been asked all these questions over the years. Obviously, these weren't my real answers

Brilliant Idea to look into to the memory structures (BRAIN) of working DBA's. It will definitely provide an insight about what all background processes are normally working in a DBA's head.

Probably less to do with how your typical DBA's brain works and more to do with how your typical mans brain works, when his wife's not listening

    My Experience

    Hi, 30th Jan 2002 16:49 hrs chennai

Normally in interviews they ask this kind of Basic Questions.

    What is PCTFREE and PCTUSED

    What is ROWCHAINING and ROWMIGRATION

What is TRANSACTION TABLE in RBS(Rollback segment)

What are the ifferent Kinds of Tuning in Particular explain Application level Tuning-Differenr kinds-TKPROF etc. Also how do you collect statistics etc

What is Buffer hit Ratio.Understand what is Physical read and Logical read(Consistent gets+DB Block gets)

Simillarly all ratios limits for good performance for Shared Pool,RBS,Sorts,Log buffer etc.

    What are various Init.ora parameters

Hot Back up or Online back up method or How it actually taken

What will happen if during a export if discontinued due to power failure will the .dmp
file contain information if so like what

If you are taking a RMAN backup the Process fails abruptly like as said above what will be the status of the backup file

PGA in dedicated and MTS difference

Offcourse you should be very clear in Architecture -Memory Arcitecture and Process Architecture

All the above Questions you should be very clear in depth not just explaining the definitions.

Above all you should have 100% confidence how you project yourself cool and in control of the interview

    Cheers

How to recover to point of falure or specific time
Have you been really asked about that in an interview?? In Scandinavia, nobody goes into all that details at an interview. It is pointless. But that is why there is a 3 month trial period here, if you have said something you know how to do, and it happens you don't, then bye-bye :-))

Tim; We should be working together, awesome!

    1) What is your name?
    2) What is you favorite color?
    3) What is the air speed velocity of an unladed swallow?

Now the third question is a trick, make sure they specify African or European.
