Is that true to say that Oracle 8i can't handle the datafiles >2G ??? on Linux 6.2 ???
I did an upgrade from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7.2.5 and I encounter some problem with starting up the database. It doesn't have problem with writing on the datafiles;however, it does have problem with reading from them. I have to do a full recover the database.
I was just wondering is there any other way to work around ???
To anyone who want to upgrade to 8.1.7 on Linux, please be aware of this problem.

Actually the work around is to add another datafile for the same tablespace.

What do you mean to add another datafile on the same tablespace ???
Do you mean that let say if I have a datafile 3G in tablespace A , I have to add another datafile 3G to that tablespace ??? and we waste that 3G on the disk to make this work ???
Any way, could you explain some more why adding another datafile would work ??? I am interested to know.
Thanks

The 2G limit is a restriction on your OS, not Oracle.
